Do you winter feed your Dog and Cat?

Do you winter feed your Dog and Cat?

Are you and your pets winter ready?

Homemade soups, casseroles, stews and of course the Sunday roasts, these are all meals we make for ourselves during the colder winter months, this helps us to keep nourished and warm but do you think about how your dog’s and cat’s cope as the colder weather sets in?

We have put a few simple ideas together to help keep your dog's and cat’s meals in top shape this winter:

Increase the Protein intake  – protein comes in all sorts of forms but you can’t get a higher quality protein than from meat, increasing your dog and cats meat intake will help them with their energy levels, we all burn more energy in the cold, so a protein boost will help them stay strong.

Adding Extra Healthy Fats – Boosting meals with ingredients like fish oil or flaxseed will keep them warm and provide a little extra essential nutrients to their diet.

Finally keeping your pets Hydrated - Adding more Moisture to your pets daily intake whether it's through feeding wet food when you usually only feed dry or adding a splash of water to their dry kibble will keep your dog and cat well and truly hydrated through the winter months.

If you need help with getting your dog or cat winter ready then please pop in and talk to one of our friendly team members

Have a safe and happy winter
